SAC Air Cargo

Air Cargo Facility Expansion

Supporting the next generation of air cargo operations at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport with coordinated mechanical systems designed for performance, flexibility and future growth.

Client & Context

As one of the fastest-growing airports in the Southeast, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport continues to expand its infrastructure to support increasing cargo demand. To strengthen its role as a regional logistics hub, the Savannah Airport Commission developed a new 36-acre air cargo campus on the airport’s north side.

The campus includes two facilities totaling more than 126,000 square feet. Together, they provide dedicated cargo operations, flexible multi-tenant space, warehouse and sortation functions, administrative offices and infrastructure designed to accommodate future cold-storage capabilities and evolving tenant needs.

The Challenge

The project required mechanical systems capable of serving a wide variety of operational environments while remaining flexible enough to accommodate future tenant build-outs and changing cargo requirements.

Construction also took place within an active airport environment, where safety, coordination and schedule adherence were essential. Equipment lead times, evolving tenant requirements and coordination across multiple trades demanded careful planning and disciplined execution throughout the project.

Our Approach

Corvant worked closely with the Savannah Airport Commission, project partners and fellow trades to develop an installation strategy that aligned mechanical construction with the overall project schedule while maintaining flexibility for future tenant improvements.

The team coordinated the installation of rooftop HVAC equipment, ventilation systems, ductwork, controls infrastructure, infrared heaters and HVLS fans across both facilities. Proactive planning, continuous field coordination and disciplined execution allowed the project to maintain momentum while delivering mechanical systems designed to support both current operations and long-term adaptability.

I can recommend Corvant without reservation for any mechanical, HVAC, controls, or design-build project. Their expertise, leadership, and dedication to delivering successful outcomes make them one of the strongest mechanical contractors I have had the opportunity to work with.

The Outcome

The completed campus adds more than 126,000 square feet of modern air cargo capacity to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, strengthening its ability to support growing freight volumes and regional logistics operations.

Designed for long-term flexibility, the new facilities provide infrastructure that can adapt to changing tenant requirements while supporting future expansion of cargo services. For Corvant, the project reinforces its ability to deliver coordinated mechanical systems for complex transportation infrastructure where operational performance, schedule and future readiness are equally important.
